There are two main types of ventilators: invasive and non-invasive. Invasive ventilation involves inserting a tube through the mouth or nose into the trachea, typically used for patients in critical condition or undergoing surgery. Non-invasive ventilation, on the other hand, uses a mask fitted over the nose or mouth to assist breathing, often applied in cases of respiratory distress or chronic conditions like sleep apnea.
